“It is often said, ‘I would give, but only to the deserving’…
See first that you yourself deserve to be a giver,
and an instrument of giving.” — Kahlil Gibran
PRAYER
One Powerful way to help is to lift Mission Vision and our many faithful supporters in consistent prayer. We firmly believe that the One who supplies all our need, can and will provide everything we require to accomplish His purposes.
VOLUNTEER a DAY of YOUR TIME and TALENT
It takes at least 4 professional volunteers and 2 laypersons to staff a free vision clinic:
1 Optometrist or Ophthalmologist: Provides an eye health exam & refraction for glasses.
1 Technician: Completes preliminary testing, preparing patients to see the doctor.
2 Opticians: Helps patients select appropriate frame; fits frame & takes measurements. – 1 Patient Coordinator: Checks patients in to the clinic & manages patient flow.
1 Phone Coordinator: Communicates with school nurses and clients.
To Doctors and Eye Care Professionals: If you are (or if you know) an experienced eye care professional in the Western Pennsylvania tri-state region who wants to serve in a local, one day mission trip, PLEASE click the “Contact Us” button and ask for our “ECP Information packet”
To Other Potential Volunteers: We also need individuals to work at the registration table. This role involves checking patients into the clinic, and managing patient flow through the process. This job requires someone who is comfortable and proficient working with computers, and who loves working with the public in a fast paced, doctor’s office environment. Other opportunities include helping process and deliver shipments of completed eyeglasses to our partner facilities that host our free eye clinic events.
If you and/or your group are looking for an outreach project, contact us and ask about bringing a small team to one of our “work parties.” These events are scheduled as needed to process and prepare gently used eyeglass donations for international missions. Even if you have no hands-on experience working with eyeglasses, we will train you how to sort, bench adjust, check eyeglass prescriptions and perform minor repairs on glasses. These events are typically scheduled on Saturdays, and normally run 9am – 2pm.
To Families, Church Groups, and Businesses: If we are to continue to meet the growing demand for free eye care services, Mission Vision needs Sponsorship Partners! Sponsorship options range from $60 to sponsor an individual patient, to $2,300 to sponsor and entire free eye clinic event, with additional choices in between. Please call 412-303-7687 now to ask for a sponsorship packet for your family, church, or charitable hearted business.
Mission Vision also needs volunteers to support our IMPACT KIT initiative. To learn more about how you can help or volunteer, please click the “Community Outreach”, then “Impact” links, or go to our designated website: www.create-impact.org. Impact is a means of providing essential supplies to homeless service organizations to help meet the “basic needs” of their clients, so they can invest more time and resources moving victims of homelessness and poverty toward self-sufficiency in their communities.
To Donors: The majority of our funding comes from private citizens just like you, as well as charitable minded groups and organizations in the local community. Mission Vision does not rely heavily upon grants from sizeable foundations, though we diligently pursue their attention on a regular basis. Given our current revenue streams and budget constraints, Mission Vision is booked well into 2015 for community service events, and into 2016 to serve young children in the region’s public schools. In order to increase our current capacity, which is 2,000 souls per year (half of them minor children), we need your financial aid!
Mission Vision incurs very little in human resource expenses, which enables us to provide free eye care and other valuable services to our homeless, unemployed, and low/fixed income neighbors at a very low cost overall (just over $58 per person). This allows donated money to go directly into the community; your donation will directly effect the quality of life of someone who cannot afford to buy glasses! If you wish to make a monetary donation, you may use the paypal link below, or mail a check payable to:
MISSION VISION, INC., 105 Brandt Drive, Suite 204, Cranberry Twp, PA 16066.
For additional giving options, please click the How You Can Help button and select “Make a Donation.” Remember, Mission Vision is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization; ALL contributions are TAX DEDUCTIBLE!
All of us at Mission Vision wish to acknowledge and express heart-felt appreciation to our many, faithful supporters. Whether you donated your time, money, supplies or prayers, please know that God has used you to make a significant difference in the lives of thousands of souls in Pittsburgh and abroad. May God richly bless you!
